Bringing Special Ops Flavor to Storenvy!

Hello, Storenvy universe! Following Jon’s announcement on Monday, I wanted to jump in and introduce myself personally. My name is Adam Hendle, and for the past three years I have been running a site called IAMTHETREND.com. My goal with the site has been two-fold. When I first started out it was to find the latest and greatest t-shirt brands, bands, artists and cool indie products and expose them to the world. As the site grew I became much more involved with trying to help new brands grow and get established, which honestly became the most rewarding part of running the site.

As a counterpart to IAMTHETREND.com, I also launched IATT.TV, which allows indie t-shirt brands to send in tees for review against a grading system I created called the 4P’s of Tees — packaging, printing, price and overall presentation of the product. To date those videos have received over 80,000 views and have been another great way for me to help spread the word about indie brands and offer some insight into what brands should look for when launching a line.

Running IAMTHETREND.com has given me some amazing opportunities. One of my favorites happened recently when I was asked to write a case study for a book by Go Media founder Jeff Finley called Thread’s Not Dead, which is an amazing resource for individuals looking to start or expand their clothing line. It was incredibly humbling and rewarding to be part of such an amazing project with huge names like illustrator Rob Dobi, Threadless co-founder Jeffrey Kalmikoff (a Storenvy advisor — I got to have lunch with him yesterday!),  Justin Kamerer of AngryBlue, Richard Minino of HorseBites and a ton of other amazing talents.

About a year after I’d started IAMTHETREND, I came across a startup by the name of Storenvy.com. Their mission was to make online shopping extremely fun, social and easy, for both shoppers and seller. Needless to say I was intrigued and excited about what they were developing for the indie world. I was even lucky enough to be one of the first people to get a look into the Storenvy project almost two years back!  Right after that I wrote an article on how I believed Storenvy would be the platform for changing how we buy and sell online. It’s pretty amazing to look back on that article written two years ago and now be a part of the team!

So now, I’ve been appointed Storenvy Special Ops! As cool as that title sounds, I unfortunately will not be kicking down any doors, hunting terrorists or be issued an AK47. Believe me, I am just as disappointed as you. Instead I will be interacting and engaging with the Storenvy community through the Storenvy blog, forums, videos, Twitter, Facebook, carrier pigeon, smoke signals — you name it. I’ll also be answering any support questions you may have and working on some exciting undercover projects. I’m excited to introduce more video to the site and create new ways for you guys to interact with us, share ideas, give feedback, voice concerns and encourage community growth — all while helping you do what you do better.

For the sake of not boring you to death, I’m going to close this out by saying I am extremely excited to be onboard the Storenvy train and I look forward to helping Storenvy and the Storenvy community grow! If you want to chat, please don’t be bashful! You can drop me a line at adam@storenvy.com, follow me on my newly formed Twitter @adamhendle and also make sure to follow my Storenvy Profile at www.storenvy.com/adam.
